I am honored to nominate Nurse Gurleen for the DAISY Award. She consistently demonstrates that nursing ethics are lived every day through calm action, fairness, and compassion. On multiple occasions, she has responded immediately when patients required emergency transfer, stepping in without hesitation to prioritize their needs. No matter which side of the unit she is working on, she assists charge nurses and colleagues by managing the situation with skill and confidence.

In one case, she independently carried out every step of an urgent transfer perfectly and on time, ensuring patient safety while keeping the environment calm. Her composure and steady leadership in emergencies not only protect patients but also bring reassurance to the entire team. Beyond her clinical excellence, Nurse Gurleen embodies positivity and ethical advocacy in every aspect of her work. Patients admire her deeply and often ask for her by name, while staff appreciate her willingness to help with blood work, procedures, or any task that makes care safer and smoother.

As a union representative, she stands up for both patients’ rights and colleagues’ rights with fairness and respect. Her knowledge, professionalism, and uplifting attitude inspire everyone around her—including a nursing student who shared that she wants to become a nurse because of Gurleen’s example. Always shining on the unit, she truly reflects the values of dignity, integrity, and compassion that this award represents.

Thank you, Gurleen, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
