My father-in-law checked into Flower Hospital ER with chest pains. Unfortunately, he suffered a major heart attack and passed away. The entire emergency care team was very kind to my mother-in-law and family. Gwen Lucero was especially kind and compassionate. Gwen was the medical professional that delivered the life changing news to our family that my father-in-law had passed. While explaining this to us, it was Gwen’s genuine, caring demeanor that comforted my grieving mother-in-law. Gwen’s raw emotion as she explained that the team had done everything that they could do, showed that she truly cares about her job. Gwen held my mother-in-law in her arms as she cried and processed what she had just been told. Gwen answered all of our questions, was by our side and was sympathetic throughout the entire process. I speak for myself and my family in saying that Gwen’s presence made a difference that day. She is an example of the type of caring person that the medical profession can use more of. Gwen was a blessing to our family and deserves to be recognized.
