Hailey was my nurse during the day shift during my postpartum hospital stay, and her exceptional care truly went above and beyond in supporting both my spouse and me.

From the moment she took over my care, Hailey was incredibly attentive to our needs. She consistently checked in, proactively addressed any concerns, and made sure we felt comfortable and well-informed. Her professionalism was evident in her thoroughness and her clear communication, while her genuine compassion created a supportive and reassuring environment.

 I had the esteemed privilege of being cared for by Hailey when I delivered my second son at UCSD Jacobs this past July. I was brought in overnight for a scheduled induction, and Hailey was my day shift nurse when the show started to get on the road.

I had a less favorable experience in 2022 delivering my son related to the primary nurse being inexperienced, and I explained to Hailey that I never really felt like I learned how to give birth. She took the time to listen to my experience and fostered an environment of such comfort and trust with me. She was incredibly intuitive and supportive, brilliant and talented, but also kept me calm with her light-hearted energy. I learned so much and had the most seamless delivery I could have ever imagined due to her advocacy for my ideal experience.

The following day, the postpartum unit was full, so I remained in the same room, and Hailey was my nurse again. At around 16 hours of life, Hailey was headed to a breakfast break when she noticed our call light was on. She came in on her break to find that my son was dusky, losing tone, and clearly in extreme distress. She stayed at the bedside and comforted my family while my son was transferred to the NICU in critical condition.

When we were finally allowed to see him, she escorted us to the NICU after checking with her charge nurse and rubbed my back through the panic attack I had when I saw my little boy covered in lines being prepared to be transferred to Rady's for ECMO. She held my hand and cried with me like I had known her my whole life and didn't leave my side until we walked out of the hospital for good.

I've never had anyone in healthcare treat me like family the way Hailey did. She exemplifies care and prioritizes her patients in a way that really makes UCSD Medical Center stand out as an institution where patients receive excellent care.

I feel so lucky to have crossed paths with Hailey, and I wish everyone on earth could have been treated in their darkest hour with the utmost kindness and love that I was when I was her patient.
