In our discomfort and pain, Hailey was compassionate, hearing all of my husband’s needs and concerns. In our frustrations, Hailey was our advocate, and in our accomplishments, Hailey shared our joy.
My husband was a patient for 2 ½ weeks. What started out as a 1-2 day stay turned into weeks. All of our nurses have been awesome. However, Hailey really stood out amongst them all. Her compassion, care, and patient relationship skills are comforting, and she has a gift of helping her patient and family members feel heard in stressful and frustrating situations.

In the beginning of our hospital stay, we never had the same nurse daily. As a patient and family member that was very frustrating – having to start new everyday. Hailey was one of the first nurses to have us on their entire shift, which was amazing and gave us a sense of stability. Hailey was diligent about staying on top of my husband’s needs. She not only cared about his physical needs, she was also empathetic to our mental health needs. Hailey always took the time to talk with us about any of our concerns, never making promises or giving false hope, but giving us information so that we were able to make informed decisions. Hailey’s efficiency and effectiveness also stood out, explaining and organizing all the medicines, caring of incisions, and feeding tube protocols- not only was thinking about us, her patients, but also her fellow co-workers who would be taking over for the night shift, ensuring that my husband’s needs were met before shift change even if it meant she had to stay a little late. Big deal to a patient!

In our discomfort and pain, Hailey was compassionate, hearing all of my husband’s needs and concerns. In our frustrations, Hailey was our advocate, and in our accomplishments, Hailey shared our joy. Hailey is the nurse who always puts her patients first. She makes things happen by being proactive, and not waiting until there’s not enough time left to get it taken care of until the next shift or day. Again, we matter!

Each & everyday had its own issues, and having Hailey as our nurse gave us a sense of peace and comfort because we knew she would always do her best to get things resolved or that we understand why we were going in the direction we were going in his healing process. During our 2 ½ weeks stay, we were blessed to have Hailey 2 of her work shifts 6 times! We were extremely happy she was with us on the day we were discharged. With her help and support, we were able to go home when we thought we were and didn’t have to stay additional days. Her communication with the team was instrumental in our discharge.

Hailey is a bright light in the storm!
