During the time I was hospitalized, I came in contact with numerous nurses and health care professionals. This is my third week of a three-week treatment. I was suffering from quite a bit of collateral damage from all of this and was struggling to swallow any solid food and had neuropathy in my hands and feet. During my stay, I was asked if there were any nurses that I’d like to point out as extraordinary. At the time, I thought they were all excellent and had nothing negative to say. However, there is one who shines above them all: Haleigh Weiss.

A nurse who went above and beyond in my book. I referred to her as “Haley’s Comet”. The care she provided for me went above and beyond what others have done. She was more of an advocate for me. While going down the final stretch of my treatments, there were a lot of people coming into my room, and when they started talking she attentively listened to them. I did my best to listen, but once they left my room, she and I had a conversation “do you understand what they were saying to you?” I would say, somewhat. Then Haleigh went over everything again and confirmed whether or not I understood, which was very meaningful to me because it was important stuff. And she took it upon herself to teach me.
