I would like to nominate Hayley for the DAISY Award with a full and grateful heart.  From the moment she began caring for me, Hayley has shown a level of compassion that goes far beyond what is expected. She doesn't just check on her patients; she sees them. Time and time again, she has come into my room without being called, simply to make sure I was okay. In those moments, I didn't feel like just another patient in a hospital bed; I felt like a person who truly mattered.
Living with multiple sclerosis has placed me in the hospital more times than I can count, and I have encountered many nurses along the way. But there is something rare and deeply special about Hayley. She connects on a human level that is impossible to teach. She has made me feel safe, valued, and cared for in a way that goes beyond medicine.
What moved me most was witnessing her care for another patient. She mentioned she was searching for a razor, and when I asked why, she explained that one of her hospice patients had family coming to visit. He wasn't in the best condition, and she wanted to make sure he was clean, comfortable, and presentable for them. This was not something she had to do, but she chose to. In that moment, I saw exactly who Hayley is. She gave that patient dignity. She gave him humanity. She gave him the chance to feel like himself, to feel like a man again before seeing the people he loved most. That kind of compassion cannot be taught. It comes from the heart, and Hayley carries that in everything she does.
I have shared my admiration for her with other staff members, and it is clear that this is not a one-time experience; this is who she is every single day. Even my nurse practitioner, Dr. T, affirmed that Hayley consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. I can say without hesitation that Hayley is one of the kindest, most genuine, and extraordinary nurses I have ever had the privilege of being cared for by. If there is anyone who embodies what the DAISY Award stands for, it is her.

Thank you, Haley, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
