I wanted to make sure to acknowledge Haley Johnson's excellent attitude and work ethic with a particularly medically demanding patient today. In a very sick young infant with end-stage liver disease, Haley had the clinical accuracy to check a PRN blood glucose level that was found to be 29 (good catch!) and without complaining or changing her attitude. She went through a long morning of glucose checks and multiple RRTs. Not only did she keep up easily with these overwhelming demands, but she kept the patient's parents involved and informed as well, who she had RRT'd the day before to an adult ER less than 24 hours before. Both her acute clinical impression and her tireless morning of bedside work led to a better patient outcome to a safer environment.
