My nurse, the Amazing Haley, stood by my side, let me cry and talk, and they just listened without saying very much.
Haley, where do I start? They are a rock star. Since I got here, they were the first face I saw, very gentle and soft-spoken. They were on top of everything; anytime I needed anything -- from pillows, charging my phone, pain meds, or a hot compress -- they stopped what they were doing and were right there and so sweet about it. They never made me feel like I was a bother or that my needs didn't matter; they did whatever it was that I needed.
Last night was my baby boy's 2nd birthday, and I wasn't there to celebrate with him, so it was very hard, and I felt very alone. Yesterday was hard for me, being the special day for my son, as well as I have not been away from my baby for more than 18 hours at most since I had him, so it was overwhelming and extremely sad. So, with that being said, I had a complete breakdown -- I mean ugly-crying breakdown -- and my nurse, the Amazing Haley, stood by my side, let me cry and talk, and they just listened without saying very much. They said just what was needed to be said at the time to calm me down, but most of all, they never made me feel like I was overreacting or taking up their time; they made me feel more comfortable and calm with the situation at hand.
If there were more individuals like Haley, this world would be a lot better. Anyways, I can't express how amazing this nurse is, but I hope this gives a little clearer picture of the type of nurse and human Haley is. Thanks, Haley. You have a friend for life.
