Haley consistently showed kindness, empathy, and dedication that went far beyond expectations.
I would like to nominate Haley for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary care she provided to my son, C, and to our entire family. My son was born at 33 weeks and required extensive medical care, including oxygen and feeding support. When he was one month old, he was transferred to Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, and that is where we met Haley.
From the very beginning, she became an essential part of our journey. During this long and emotionally difficult time, Haley was more than just a nurse. She was a constant source of encouragement, compassion, and strength for our family. There were many days when I felt overwhelmed, sad, and unsure, but Haley never treated her role as just a job. She consistently went above and beyond routine care. She cared for my son with genuine love, patience, and attention, always making sure he had everything he needed. She played with him and comforted him, treating him as if he were her own.
I would often feel the need to rush in and check on C because I missed him or wondered what he was doing. However, if I knew Haley was his nurse, I would feel at peace knowing she would take care of him as if he were her own child. That level of trust meant everything to me as a mother.
Even when we did not receive the best news at times, Haley always reminded us how far we had come and reassured us that things would be okay. She consistently kept me updated about C’s progress and was always very knowledgeable when I had questions. Her confidence and understanding brought me peace during uncertain moments.
What truly set Haley apart was how deeply she supported me as a mother. Through countless tests and moments where we had more questions than answers, she remained positive and encouraging. When my son had his swallow study, a moment that filled me with fear, Haley reassured me every step of the way. She encouraged me to attend, told me she would be there with us, and she meant it. She did not just walk us to the room but stayed with us until the test was over, offering comfort and reassurance the entire time.
