Haley Van Vuren is a true team player, patient advocate, and all-round great nurse with a great attitude towards life.
Haley is tireless in the pursuit of compassionate patient care. She has an easy way about her when she is communicating with the family which builds a trust that allows the parents to know their babies are in good hands. In addition, Haley has demonstrated outstanding patient care with extraordinary bedside skills. She is always a strong advocate for her tiny patients. Those are the most important pieces of being an excellent registered nurse.
The following story is just one example of her compassion for her patients. Haley was assigned to care for a 3-month-old with Pierre Robin sequence, in need of bronchoscopy - balloon dilation d/t stenosis in the OR. She was calm and comforting the mother. Haley made sure the mother understood the procedures and her questions and concerns were completely answered. Once the patient returned to the unit, the patient woke up, cried with audible stridor, and increased work of breathing. Haley immediately picked the patient up, held him into her arms to calm the patient, and she was also on the phone with the neonatologist to ask for more support. Because of Haley, this patient was escalated with more respiratory support like Heliox, nebulizer treatments. And because of Haley, this patient was no longer in respiratory distress. She saved him from reintubation.
Haley is positive, hardworking, and a true team player. She would always ask how we were doing and was extremely friendly to all of her co-workers and family members. Haley is helpful to her co-workers and is always willing to lend a hand as evidenced by a thank-you for making it. Haley, thank you so much - we always felt healing with your presence!! Haley is outstanding inside and out, always smiling and happy. She is an excellent, immensely knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind. She is a true DAISY Nurse because of her kind manner and professional, exceptional care.
