Halle goes above and beyond for her colleagues as well as patients and families. I have known Halle for 3 years and I have seen her give nothing but 110% to her work. As a colleague, Halle goes above and beyond every single shift. She will complete tasks for you not because she asks but because she knows you had a really busy day. I have personally come back from a procedure that took longer than expected only to return to having my patients' medications given, vitals completed and feeds done. I was so thankful for Halle's thoughtful act because she had patients of her own to take care of and I know that Halle does not think twice when it comes to assisting others. An example like this is an everyday example of what it is like to work with Halle. I know for a fact that Halle does not hear enough how much the nurses on 4D appreciate her as a colleague, we talk amongst ourselves about how much of a help she is how she goes above and beyond for us every single shift.
And then there's Halle with her patients and families. Her skills in working at appropriate developmental levels for the patients, making sure that parents have no questions when leaving the hospital, teaching parents how to care for their child and advocating for her patients' needs and wants are just some of the ways Halle shines as a nurse. I frequently see Halle staying late after a busy shift and when we ask her way, she will usually state something along the lines of, "Oh it's okay I just spent a lot of time with the x family teaching today." And I know from multiple discussions with Halle and families that she makes a tremendous effort to work with the patient and make their hospital experience positive. She goes into the room and spends time playing instead of just going in to do her work. She goes in and says "Hi" when she's not working with them that day, she makes the hospital fun. Halle is the perfect picture of what a pediatric nurse should be. She is a team player, a caring provider and all around she is just someone I would want to care for my child if I were ever in the hospital with them. But lastly, Halle is a nurse who does not recognize how amazing she is! Her humble approach to caring is what makes Halle so special.
