Nurse Hamza’s rapid response and expertise managed this critical situation on-site, averting further complications.
Nurse Hamza Salah managed a critical case during one of his shifts, saving a patient’s life with his swift, decisive actions. The patient had severe bleeding with no initially identifiable source. Nurse Hamza quickly assessed the situation and noted that the bleeding was coming from the tracheostomy, mouth, and neck areas. He promptly gathered all necessary equipment and supplies to control the bleeding, prepared IV fluids, and immediately called the physician.
The patient was vomiting blood, and after a thorough assessment, Nurse Hamza identified the nasopharynx as the source of the bleeding. He skilfully applied pressure packing, which successfully stopped the bleeding. He then administered blood and plasma to stabilize the patient’s blood pressure and other vital signs, monitoring them closely until their condition was stable.
It’s worth noting that transferring the patient to another department—even to the operating room—could have introduced significant, potentially fatal risks. Nurse Hamza’s rapid response and expertise managed this critical situation on-site, averting further complications.
