Hanna went above and beyond for a patient who had surgery at Medical Center East. The patient arrived on the day of surgery via medical TARC with his wife. The patient was in a wheelchair and the wife was physically limited, neither the patient nor the family could drive.

During the pre-op assessment, the patient told Hanna that the surgeon’s office told them that our facility would give them their prescription for pain medication to take home with them, which is incorrect. When Hanna discovered this, she escalated this issue to her manager. Hanna took charge, calling the surgeon to expedite filling the patient’s prescription at a Walgreens close to Medical Center East. We went and picked up the prescription for the patient so they could have their surgery. The patient expressed their gratitude and recognized Hanna for her kindness and compassion in a follow-up post-op phone call.

We are so fortunate to have Hanna in a leadership role at Medical Center East. On behalf of the patient and myself, I want to recognize Hanna with a nomination for a DAISY Award for her leadership, kindness, and compassion toward this patient.
