Hannah truly has a heart of gold. I just want her to know how thankful we are as a unit for her caring and compassionate heart.
If you go to the DAISY Foundation website and read about Patrick Barnes and his family, there is one part that really stands out and made me realize just how much Hannah exemplifies these characteristics. "While they expected great clinical care, they did not expect the incredible kindness and compassion shown to Patrick and them every day. It eased their minds, and the nurses' sensitivity to the situation made a great difference in the hospital experience. The nurses helped the family through the darkest hours of their lives with soft voices of comfort and strong, loving hugs."

There is one nurse in particular who always goes above and beyond her duty as an RN for the mothers, infants and their families on the Labor and Delivery unit here at RMC. Hannah Balsmeyer is the definition of a DAISY. The amount of care, compassion, and time she commits to her role as a nurse never ceases to amaze us. She is truly extraordinary. Hannah has stayed after her shift for hours just to be with a patient who didn't have anyone else to be their support person. She has knitted countless blankets and hats for our fetal demise babies. She has come in on her off day just to help make mementos for a mother who lost her baby.

Her true calling is the work she does for our fetal demise patients. She is always behind the scenes making everything perfect. Hannah truly has a heart of gold. I just want her to know how thankful we are as a unit for her caring and compassionate heart. I know she is making a difference in patients' lives, but I want her to know she also makes a difference in her coworkers' lives. Thank you for going the extra mile. Thank you for being so thoughtful and, most of all, kind. It truly makes all the difference in the world.
