Hannah Berger really encompasses what it means to be a nurse. She is the ANM on KP14 but I see her every day going into patients' rooms and really taking the time to get to know them. There's one situation that really sticks out in my mind on why Hannah is exceptional. There was a 21yo patient on KP14, who had a very sad family situation and was on the unit to have heart surgery. He had numerous complications after his surgery and was seeming more disappointed and depressed by the day. Hannah, taking in the whole picture of the patient, took the time to go in every night she was working and sit and play UNO with him. She encouraged other nurses to do the same. Every time you entered the patient's room, you could see the tally marks next to the names of the nurses who had played UNO with the patient. Hannah had the most tally marks next to her name. The patient was able to recover and go home, and just last week he came back to KP14. He saw Hannah and informed her that he wanted to come back and visit and see the staff whom he now considers his friends.
