February 2019 Honoree
hannah berliner, RN
I've been a patient hospitalized at St. Joseph Medical Center for 70+ days, confined to the four walls of my room. I came into the hospital extremely overweight, developed respiratory failure, was intubated and ended up with a trach. During that time, Hannah would come in and talk to me, tell me I was okay and that I was going to get better. Near Christmas she made a special effort at my request to make sure I made it to the chapel. She gave me a tour of the unit and of the whole first floor. She also took me outside and it was the first breath of fresh air I have had in 70+ days. It rejuvenated my spirt, my mind and my desire to progress and get healthier. I am truly grateful to her for making such an effort/sacrifice to fulfill my wishes and desires.
Thank you, Hannah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
