December 2023 Honoree
Hannah Bouvy, RN
I was a patient on 4 PCU following a Watchman procedure. I experienced great anxiety about undergoing the procedure and particularly about the recovery process. I was educated about having to remain horizontal for hours due to the risk of major bleeding.
Luckily, the procedure went well and recovery also until I was instructed to use the restroom after the appropriate time had elapsed. When I did so the insertion site at my femoral artery began to bleed. This is where I would like to commend my nurse, Hannah Bouvy. She responded immediately to my needs and assisted throughout the condition that was called. She never left my side, providing calming words of encouragement along with an excellent display of confidence. Hannah made me feel safe in a situation that was urgent and could be life-threatening. It shows how much impact nurses have on patient care and I have nothing but respect and admiration for how Hannah handled the situation that day.
