I have been a patient in the Heart Failure Clinic for 6 years and 9 months. During that time, I’ve had several coordinators. Recently on a visit, Hannah was doing an intake and spotted an extremely small spot under my right eye. I had never seen it and if I had I would have ignored it. Due to her extraordinary care and professional approach, she had me take off my glasses and got a clear look at the spot. She immediately called infectious disease to come to look at it. They concurred with her evaluation of early signs of shingles. I was given a prescription and started on the medication for 7 days. To some patients, they might not know what shingles means. I have had it and it is very painful. Hannah, by her immediate action, stopped this virus before it got started. She called me every day for 7 days making sure there was no spread and that the meds were working. It saved me a very serious and painful illness. All of my coordinators have been excellent, but I don’t think anyone has been as thorough or dedicated as Hannah, and she proved it to me with this situation. I feel she is a DAISY Nurse for her exceptional nursing skills, her professional way of handling the problem, and her caring and dedicated follow-up until I was out of danger.
