"My son has downs. We brought him to the ER. He was breathing very quickly and labored. He was in obvious distress. He was moved to MICU when a bed come available. All of the staff, nurses, and doctors treated J and us with care.

I saw these thank-you recommendations and Immediately thought of Hannah. Her cheerful attitude and great compassion stood out. She has been J’s day nurse now for the 2nd day. She is helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. Thank you Hannah for taking great care of my son."

We invited the nominator and family to join us today. However, he was unable to attend. He did send the following note that we wanted to share with you and the ICU team:

“We are so glad to hear that Hannah is receiving it and are sorry we will be unable to be there. Hannah (and all of the ICU staff) were wonderful during our son J's 3-week stay in ICU. We felt that he was well taken care of! Hannah was his nurse several times in the early days of his treatment for aspiration pneumonia when he was so very sick. He has recovered well and had his lingual tonsils removed at UAB, which has led to better breathing, eating, sleep, and speech. We are so grateful for the care he received in ICU and wish the best for Hannah and everyone who works there."
