Hannah Deal, RN, BSN, PHN

I worked with Hannah in the care of a young patient who had incredibly complex mental health needs that were causing her a lot of suffering in the hospital. Hannah works in the orthopedic unit, but because of bed shortages and the patient's medical needs, the patient was placed in Hannah's care. The patient's care escalated multiple times throughout the shift, with a code blue, code 21, emergent procedures, and restraints needing to be placed. Hannah led the interventions with fantastic grace, compassion, expertise, and humility, despite the incredible stress of the situation. She was an excellent communicator, worked quickly, and generally improved the care of this patient.
