Hannah’s kindness simply brings me to tears. She has cared for my 90-year-old post-op grandfather many times since he’s been on this unit. Never once has she cut a corner or not gone far above the expectations of her job for him.

She talks to him so kindly and always informs him of what she’s doing and what’s going on. She advocated for him to be prioritized for PT to get stronger. She always gets him out of bed. She makes him feel like a person and not just a patient. She advocated for him to be treated for thrush. She further went above and beyond and has probably spent a cumulative of 2-3 hours on his oral care. She used tweezers to remove plaque from his mouth and tongue. She found a 2–3-inch dried mucus plaque behind his uvula. He has been NPO for 3 weeks, so his mouth is very dry. By removing all the plaques and dried mucus, he can speak again (he was having a hard time speaking and enunciating).

After her final cleaning of his mouth, his ability to speak was a night and day difference. I mean, who does that for another person? I am so grateful. She is truly an angel on this earth. She has improved his quality of life simply beyond words.

Thank you, Hannah E, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
