I would like to recognize my peer, Hannah Pilong. I have had the pleasure of working with Hannah for many years. Hannah has a positive personality that is contagious and easy to be around. While walking through the hallways, Hannah always takes the time to stop and acknowledge each staff member and patient with a hello and a smile. 

Hannah is a patient advocate at her core and does everything in her power to provide the patients with the best possible care, always putting their needs first. I have witnessed Hannah firsthand speak to a struggling and upset patient but quickly turn the situation into a positive. As a new nurse, she taught me to take the time to listen and talk to my patients. She helped me to understand that sometimes, in this setting, the patient might feel hopeless and lack control, which presents as anger. Being empathic and using compassion with every interaction will help heal the situation. 

I have seen Hannah go above and beyond for the patient, not because she had to but because she wanted to.  Hannah’s passion for patient care is unwavering and valuable to the nursing team and the patients we serve. This is why I believe she is a DAISY Nurse.
