June 2025 Honoree
Hannah Hires, RN
We were admitted for the second time in less than a month and got the pleasure of having Hannah Hires as our night nurse again. The first time was a bit scary, and Hannah walked us through every step, including what to expect from them and their colleagues during the night, as well as what to expect during the day. Each and every time Hannah came into our room, she never left without asking if we needed anything. It wasn’t just me she was asking, either; it also included his overnight visitors, who were there to help me. Hannah did not pretend to be above anything we asked of them. Hannah repeated things without hesitation or exasperation when we didn’t quite follow things. Hannah talked to my son, who is delayed in many ways, in such a compassionate way and never once became frustrated with a lack of response. When we came back our second time, Hannah not only remembered us but also remembered details about his stay, right down to the fact that there was a sleeping medication we had to repeat at night, which I had forgotten about because he doesn’t typically need it again at home. It’s not just the big things that made Hannah an exceptional nurse; it was all the little things, too.
Thank you, Hannah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
