December 2019 Honoree
Hannah Hosner, RN, BSN, CPN
Hannah has been our little baby’s nurse for the last 2 days. She has helped all of us, (parents, siblings, and patient) through our little guy’s recovery from surgery. He has been pretty uncomfortable and in pain, and we’ve been trying to figure out what might be causing the discomfort. Hannah noticed redness around the G-Tube and notified the surgical team. Later, she helped get the surgical team to check our son’s ears in case of infection. Sure enough, he had a double ear infection! Both of these discoveries began some more effective pain management and treatment for our little guy. Soon after taking antibiotics and other medications, we saw him smile and play! He’s starting to feel a little stronger and this improvement is huge! Hannah also helped me and my husband with training and building familiarity with the G-Tube. This decision to put a G-Tube into our son happened so suddenly and we’ve been through a whirlwind of information. Hannah patiently worked with both my husband and me and gave us multiple opportunities to practice feeding. We’re feeling more capable of being able to do this at home. Hannah has also helped make sure we got the opportunities to work with the dietitian and make adjustments to the feeding plan and try it out in the hospital. Hannah has been a lifesaver coordinating between care management and getting our feeding pump and supplies. It’s taken many phone calls on her end to help us get what we’ve needed. We are so grateful for her thorough and compassionate care!
Thank you, Hannah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
