Hannah Jean was always there with a smile and encouraging words.
My mother was admitted to St. Francis with severe colitis, UTI, and sepsis. She was first admitted to PCN but was transferred to CV stepdown when her BP dropped. Friday morning we had the honor of meeting Hannah Jean. She was the bright spot my family needed during our darkest days. She came in and met my mother and eventually the rest of the family. She took the time to learn my mom's story and to include us in her care. I have been in healthcare for 20 years and she is by far one of the kindest and most compassionate nurses I have ever met. She was always there with a smile and encouraging words. She went above and beyond to make sure my mother was comfortable and didn't need anything. She regularly checked in to make sure I was updated on my mom's condition and plan of care. When my mother was transferred to the ICU, she came over every day to check on her and make sure the rest of us were ok. When the decision was made to withdraw care, she came and offered her time, kind words, and supportive hugs. She was with us every step of the way. She is truly a rare find in the world today. I cannot recall another nurse who has been so exceptional in many, many years. You have an extraordinary young lady working for you and she deserves all of the accolades available. I don't know how we were lucky enough to have her assigned to care for my mother but I know without hesitation that my mom's final days were made more beautiful because Hannah Jean was there.
