Hannah made the darkest moment of my life brighter in ways I never imagined possible.
At 13 weeks pregnant, I found out my son had a very high chance of having trisomy 13. After weeks of counseling, scans, and procedures, we knew our sweet boy wouldn't make it. At 17.5 weeks pregnant, I was induced and distraught at the thought of losing my son. From the second Hannah arrived in my room, I felt like an angel had been sent to me. Her care during labor was absolutely phenomenal, and I felt as though I was in the best hands during the most distressing time of my life. She knew what I was feeling and what I needed just by looking into my tearful eyes. While I was laboring, Hannah made it her priority to make sure my wishes for my son were granted. She immediately helped me find a funeral home, contacted the hospital's chaplain for me, and made me feel like my son mattered more than anything-alive or not. The moment my son was born, Hannah stepped into high gear. She let me hold my son for hours. She delicately transferred him from my chest to my husband's chest, while addressing my son by name with the utmost respect. She never left our sides. While I spoke to my son for the first and last time, Hannah was in the room writing down every word I said to him, without being asked, just so I'd never forget the moment. When it was time for me to rest for a little bit, Hannah took over and gave my son the treatment any parent would hope for their child. While he was in the bassinet, she never left his side and never once was he alone. She spent hours creating a memory box of our son while comforting him, talking to him, and facilitating pictures I will have for the rest of my life in remembrance of my son. Hannah made the darkest moment of my life brighter in ways I never imagined possible. My family and I will NEVER forget Hannah or her impeccable care. We are forever grateful for her.
