I have been here at Magee as an inpatient for over a week now. I've had the pleasure of working with the same rounding of nurses, nurses in training, and PCTs pretty much my whole time. Although almost every nurse has been extraordinary compared to the other UPMC hospitals I've stayed at (I am chronically ill and have stayed at all UPMC hospitals now in PA and other than some of the southeastern ones), and Magee nurses are so much kinder, compassionate, and caring than any other UPMC hospital I've experienced. Unfortunately, this stay for me was to deal with a lot of medical issues. I am also three hours away from my husband and kids. I also suffer from anxiety and PTSD. I know how busy the nurses are, and they are in a rush to meet everyone's needs. One nurse stands out among the rest. Hannah, I am referring to Hannah Steele. She is the epitome of what it means to truly embody the meaning and duty of a nurse. She has helped calm my nerves, she listens to my concerns without being annoyed, even if she's busy. She knows her job extremely well, manages her time efficiently, is on top of her job duties without rushing, and always has a smile. She puts the care in healthcare! I'm happy to see she is training new nurses. We need more nurses like Hannah, 100% five stars.
