I nominate Hannah Nielsen, RN for the DAISY Award. I am currently a nursing student in the final quarter of a clinical immersion and I have had the pleasure of working with Hannah. There are so many reasons why Hannah is absolutely deserving of this award. The list of positive adjectives I could use is endless. Hannah is intelligent, hardworking, helpful, good-natured, and compassionate - she has the natural ability to be a wonderful. Hannah has taught me extremely valuable clinical skills, and provides me with nursing knowledge that I will use in my own nursing career in order to be the best health care provide. Every day Hannah demonstrates hard work through the effort she puts into the unit. She never hesitates to do the "behind-the-scenes work" that she feels can improve the unit, for example: fixing torn signs, restocking items that have run out - and she does this with a smile. Aside from being intelligent, hard-working, and helpful, Hannah is one of the most good-natured people I have met and shows compassion to patients - it's no wonder why they love her. As I previously mentioned, Hannah is never without a smile and radiates warmth, kindness and has a way of making everyone feel welcomed. She goes above and beyond what is required of her job to make sure patients and families feel confident that they are receiving the best care.

She decorates patient rooms with pictures of their favorite characters and/or movies. She visits the kids whenever she has free time to watch short videos, play with Legos, or spend a few minutes coloring a picture of superman at a child's request. In addition Hannah always tries to "beat the beep" - meaning, entering the patient's room before the IV pump beeps. She's always asking the patient and if there is anything else she can do before she leaves the room. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Hannah or have Hannah as their nurse is very lucky and I strongly believe that the care she provides has and will continue to leave a lasting impression on the patients and families. I hope
