Hannah may be a new nurse, but she is also very precise and efficient. Hannah exemplifies many traits of an extraordinary nurse daily. Hannah's diligence, kind heart, and warm presence have impacted both her patients and peers. One night, Hannah had an extremely trying, anxious patient with many questions requiring constant reassurance. Hannah took time to comfort him, listen to his fears, answer his questions and research answers she didn't know and truly make this patient feel safe and cared for. Hannah maintained a positive attitude and giant smile. She was able to remain calm when the patient was not, and most of all she was able to advocate for his needs when he was too frazzled to know what he wanted or needed to feel better. Hannah has impressed our unit with her critical thinking, eagerness to constantly learn, and attention to detail. Hannah has caught multiple issues before they became emergent, and advocated for better care or responses from doctors when her gut has said something wasn't right. She has had some trying situations early in her nursing career and done an amazing job with each one. Hannah shows up each day with a fresh attitude, a team approach, a caring heart, a gentle touch, and the patience of a saint. I cannot wait to watch her potential unfold.
