My daughter has been coming for infusions on and off for months. She felt comfortable from day one with this nurse and felt like she instantly trusted her. She has always been able to get an IV started with no issues, which has built confidence and trust with my daughter. This particular morning, for whatever reason, she had a hard time getting a good IV started. My daughter got really anxious because she had to end up having an IV in her hand. Throughout this process, this nurse was so calm and patient with my daughter.

She completely embodies what I believe is a great nurse. She remembers my daughter’s preferences, cares about building trust and relationships, and never makes you feel like this is “just her job.”

She talked my daughter through the entire process, gave her appropriate time to process and have all of her feelings, all while giving her opinion and keeping things moving! Watching her be patient with my daughter, who was crying and not giving good feedback, was something that brought tears to my eyes. She is an exceptional nurse! I hope that Cook Children’s really values her as an employee. She truly deserves this award.
