Hannah has been the living example of the nursing pledge. She elevates the nursing profession with sincere concern and care. My mother experienced her second total hip replacement this month. She arrived in the med-surg unit in the afternoon. Hannah was professional and never displayed an offensive attitude. Even though I insisted that everyone perform hand hygiene when entering my mother’s room.

She was collaborative and listened to my guidance concerning my mother’s care. She was attentive to my mother’s needs and always asked if there was anything she could do before leaving the room. She explained every procedure before it happened and explained every medication. Finally, she is a living example of what the nursing profession is meant to display: Nursing is empathetic, nursing is compassion, nursing is caring, nursing is critical thinking, nursing is integrity, and she is nursing.
