I want to nominate a nurse who shows outstanding character compassion and integrity to me. Hannah was there on my roughest day when I was sitting in the hospital bed not sure that life had a purpose anymore. I had severe anorexia from malnutrition and she was one of the nurses who took care of me and I remember the smile she brought me when sitting with me. She pulled a chair up to my bed when I was crying and just held my hand and talked softly to me.

Hannah was there on my hardest day when we were talking at the nursing station about the treatment steps after being in the hospital. I had lost consciousness and was rushed back to the room where I had a cardiac episode and she was there the entire time leading each member in an organized and skilled way. She saved my life that day and always visited me even if I wasn’t on her board of patients for the day to make sure that I was okay. She talked to my family like a longtime friend and carried so much bedside manner and humor with her too. Her caring spirit and eyes filled up the room and I just wanted to thank her personally.

I know she sees a lot of patients but I had some conversations with her that changed my life. Hannah is an incredible nurse who has won this award before and deserves it again. She is such a light in a dark place like a hospital.

Hannah, If you read this and it gets to you I am so thankful I got to have you as my nurse and for keeping me alive and safe. I wish I could give you a hug and say thank you for all you did for me and my family. Although I am still in treatment the words you said to me all those days never leave my mind. You have a huge heart and it shows in the passion you have for your job!
