I am an RN who was floated to this unit this morning. I've never worked on this unit before, and it is extremely different than what I am used to. On top of that, there was added confusion with the assignment and floating nurses elsewhere and the assignment was changed multiple times and report had to be given multiple times. This Nurse saw that I was stressed and already extremely behind. She took initiative and got vital signs on two of my patients as well as passing them their medications so that they received quality patient care, and I could get to the other patients in a timely manner. She went above and beyond; I am extremely thankful for her and proud of the way she is a team player and selfless enough to stay late after working all night.
