They took it upon themselves to rally their fellow nurses and staff members to make encouraging and supportive get well soon signs for their isolation patients to keep in their rooms.
For the sickest COVID patients in isolation at the time, it could have been a very lonely road to recovery. Two of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center's medical-surgical ICU nurses Hannah Miles and Hannah Skinner noticed several of their COVID patients in the ICU were lonely and sad from being so sick and in isolation. They took it upon themselves to rally their fellow nurses and staff members to make encouraging and supportive get well soon signs for their isolation patients to keep in their rooms. They also helped set up video calls with the patients’ families to try and lift their spirits.
Their nominator said that these actions helped patients know they are not alone and that someone is cheering them on toward recovery. Thank you to Hannah and Hannah for not only caring for these vulnerable patients but for also going the extra mile to make sure they feel supported.
