She went to get some medicine to get my heart rate under control and then she sat with me and talked about the prognosis and kept reassuring me everything would be okay. Her voice and demeanor were very calming.
I was a patient at Edward for 4 days. Hannah was my night nurse all 3 nights. During the day I would see my nurse about 2 times, and it was usually all business. Hannah was a totally different story. She would come in at night for her shift and immediately come in the room just to say hi. Once she got settled in, she would come back into my room, and she would do what she needed and then we would just talk. She would give me all the information I would ask for from the day's tests. On one of the days, I had been given some not so good news about my health. As the day went on it started to sink in that we don’t live forever. By 11:00 pm I was having a full-blown panic attack. My heart was racing, and I was having a hard time breathing. Hannah must have seen it on her monitor and came running into my room. She asked me what was going on and I told her about what they told me earlier in the day. She went to get some medicine to get my heart rate under control and then she sat with me and talked about the prognosis and kept reassuring me everything would be okay. Her voice and demeanor were very calming. Hannah always went above and beyond what I would consider standard nursing care. She would get me snacks whenever I asked for something. Most of all it really appeared she deeply cared about me and what I was going through. All of your nurses should strive to be as friendly and caring as Hannah was. The best part of my day was when Hannah showed up. For some reason, she gave me a sense of peace and comfort when she was there. Hannah needs to be recognized for being the BEST nurse I have ever had. She is truly an amazing person.
