As a family member of a patient, I made acquaintance with a nurse named Hanxiao Ma when I was taking care of my beloved one day and night. She doesn't possess a beautiful appearance and fine skin and there are even some grey hairs on her head. But, her confidence is so pleasing and inspiring to people that she comes to contact with. Her expertise in nursing easily alleviates patients' pain. In my opinion, a woman of this type is the most beautiful ones in the world.
A nursing assistant taking care of the patient next to us felt very uncomfortable with a painful look on her face at 9-10 o'clock at one of the nights. Hanxiao Ma noticed her problem during her rounds at night. She walked to the nursing assistant and in a very soft voice, she asked if there was something wrong with her. I also saw her gently patting the shoulder of the nursing assistant. The nursing assistant replied and said she was fine and just felt stomachache. Hanxiao Ma examined her abdomen and advised the nursing assistant to see a doctor in the emergency department as the pain might be caused by stomach cramps or appendicitis.
The nursing assistant said she was OK and could continue to work, however, Hanxiao Ma worried about her. She found a hot-water bag for her and told her to see a doctor if she didn't get any better. An hour later, Hanxiao Ma came back again and found the nursing assistant wasn't feeling any better. She urged her to see a doctor immediately as it would be too dangerous if it was appendicitis. Hanxiao Ma kindly told the nursing assistant that she would help take care of her patient so that she could go to the emergency department without any worries. In the whole night, Hanxiao Ma came to the ward frequently to make sure that the patient was fine.
In the next morning, the nursing assistant came back and told Hanxiao Ma that she really got appendicitis and now she felt better after receiving an immediate treatment in the Emergency Department. The nursing assistant was so grateful that she held Hanxiao Ma's hands and expressed her gratitude to her.
