The patient called Harley "her guardian Angel" and believes her quick actions helped save her life that night.
As a charge nurse one of my responsibilities is to ensure our patients are being provided with excellent care. This is done through patient rounding. During one of my routine nightly rounds, I came upon a patient who was beyond grateful for Harley's exceptional nursing care. The patient began to tell me of a "frightful" occurrence that had happened a few nights prior. Apparently after dialysis the patient became unresponsive and a Rapid Response had to be called. Although the event details were foggy, she vividly remembers one person ... that was her nurse that night, Harley. She remembers the quick actions Harley took soon after not starting to feel good, and Harley explained to her, "a lot of people are going to be in here shortly to make sure you're okay don't be scared," and assured her she would be with her the entire time. And as promised, Harley was there next to her, explaining everything that was being done or about to be done. The patient was stabilized and remained on the unit. The patient says that the entire night Harley remained outside of her room which brought her comfort and allowed her to get some rest after the scary ordeal. The patient called Harley "her guardian Angel" and believes her quick actions helped save her life that night. Harley is an exceptional nurse, which is why I want to highlight the excellent and compassionate care she delivers to her patients and their families.
