My insurance denied my left hip MRI with contrast because I'd already had an MRI with/ contrast on my right hip. So, I called my doctor's office and they reached out to Harriet, a nurse who works with my surgeon, and Harriet immediately said yes, she'd be happy to help. We discussed the situation. Harriet immediately recognized how unjust and erroneous the denial was, and with the doctor in surgery, she then took the initiative to investigate the matter herself. She got ahold of Evicore about the peer-to-peer appeal. I discussed the matter at length with the nurse at Evicore, getting her to review my entire case involving bilateral hip pain, and not just the most recent notes pertaining to the scan of my right hip. Harriet's tenancy and determination got my insurance company to pre-approve the scan of my left hip. Harriet went above and beyond to help me.
