I was extremely embarrassed, but once again, Harriet was so kind and so patient with me.
I want to thank Harriet for the outstanding level of care she gave me while I was in the hospital. Her compassion and kindness for me and the other patients was so heartwarming and so much appreciated while I was feeling so unwell.
There was a conversation I’d had with Harriet. I spoke up about an issue surrounding my level of care; I felt awkward, and I’m sure I sounded a bit direct. She responded in the kindest and most respectful way. She made me feel I was completely within my rights to speak up. She gave me reassurance and spoke to me with nothing but dignity and respect. She is the most beautiful nurse. She really stands out.
While in the hospital, most of us experience some embarrassing issues, mostly with personal care, showering, and toileting. I was extremely embarrassed, but once again, Harriet was so kind and so patient with me. I had to go to the toilet more than the other patients because of an extremely small bladder. She only ever showed me kindness and understanding and treated me with dignity and respect. I’ve been in the hospital, LGH, a few times this year, and while every nurse has been wonderful, Harriet stood out.
Please let her know how grateful I am. It made such a difference to me to be cared for in a way that made me feel like I was someone and not just a number. Harriet has the warmth and gentleness of an outstanding nurse. She really has a beautiful soul, and the compassion and level of care she provides are the reason I hope she is recognized with the DAISY Award.
Thank you, Harriet.
