Harrison had the confidence and determination to do what was right for the patient.
Harrison was serving as house supervisor when he was called to assess a patient in the PACU who was experiencing post-anesthesia complications.
He appropriately assessed the situation and determined that a rapid response needed to be called, despite receiving incredible and inappropriate pushback from the anesthesia provider.
When the rapid response team arrived, he helped the group arrive at a consensus to provide the necessary care for the patient.
Not many providers would have been willing to stand up to the anesthesiologist, and Harrison had the confidence and determination to do what was right for the patient.
