Hatice introduced herself and from the beginning, we could see how interested and dedicated to her profession she was. She was asking questions, being extremely observant and curious about procedures. My husband had just had surgery and was in severe pain. She was so patient with him and gentle as she helped him maneuver in and out of bed. She patiently listened to all of his complaints and laughed at his feeble jokes. She spent time talking to him frequently and catered to his every need. In spite of his pain, he felt well cared for and knew that Hatice genuinely wanted to make him as comfortable as she could. He felt that she was doing more than just "going through the motions". She saw him as not just a sick patient but as a human being worthy of being treated with compassion and empathy. I want her to know how much we appreciated her.
