May 2025 Honoree
Hativatyi Bere, LPN
I was really depressed when I came here. I have been in a hospital for almost a month now, in rehab. I am 74 years old. I was tired and always wanted to go home. I tried to keep encouraging myself. One day, the sun came into my room and brightened my day. Smiling no matter what was asked, it was done with a smile. A true smile that came from the heart. A smile that shone through the sadness. This was from the nurse, Hati. He never changed, no matter what. It made me feel that I could make it just a little while longer. To hear someone say good morning and really mean it was a blessing. Hati was a nurse who cared about people. I feel blessed that he showed what a nurse was truly. Kind, compassionate, considerate, loving, respectful! There are not enough words to explain that smile.
Thank you, Hativatyi, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
