Haven was a new RN working with A when they had a patient in the ECC who was being admitted and would be celebrating his birthday in the department. A meal tray was ordered for the patient but they were unable to request a cupcake or cookie at the time. A rallied the troops and Haven Watrous was instrumental in the plan –A and Haven provided the patient with cookies, ice cream, and a show. A and Haven made sure to sing Happy Birthday (Restaurant Style) with singing and clapping for the patient and provided that patient the cookies and ice cream. The patient’s daughter was in the room when Happy Birthday was sung. The daughter posted on Facebook “A huge thank you to DMH ER nurses yesterday. They went above and beyond to make sure my 87-year-old dad had a little fun on his birthday. They will never know how much it meant to him and his family! Nurses, in general, go above and beyond every day and they have to deal with patients, families, doctors, and other healthcare team members all while saving lives. They are definitely very special people and deserve much respect and recognition but the DMH gals were extra special yesterday.
