I had my first major surgery this week and was blessed to be cared for by what I thought was an experienced nurse with years on the floor. Imagine my surprise to find that the compassionate and confident care was being provided by someone new to the field. Hayden was knowledgeable and skillful. But I was most impressed with his confidence. He didn’t hesitate to jump in and manage my pain, provide education about my condition, and encourage me to begin my rehab. Hayden “knew” nursing. He didn’t need years of experience. His heart was that of a nurse. The profession is in good hands with people like Hayden.

Hayden was my nurse on the 5th floor after surgery. When I came to the room, I was still under anesthesia and apparently had complained that my name wasn't spelled exactly right (there is a capital letter in the middle of my name). Hayden held his emotion during my "fit" and still took care of me like it never happened. Hayden was always there for any need I had when he was my nurse. He was kind, supportive, and funny. By the end of his shift, I was ready for him to return the next day, but unfortunately for me, Mondays were his Fridays, and he wouldn't be back the next day. I knew instantly I would miss him. He took the time with me, even though I had given him a little bit of a rough time. Much love to Hayden. He was amazing.

Thank you, Hayden, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
