After a few days of being in the hospital, I became very overwhelmed to the point of tears. I struggled to express exactly what was bothering me so much. Haylee noticed that I needed someone to talk to, and she listened to everything I was going through. She brought me immense comfort by sitting on my bed next to me and letting me cry all my tears out. She was amazing in how she took all my concerns and worries, deciphered my actual problems, and came up with a game plan to move forward. Haylee recognized that I was becoming overwhelmed by the numerous people/caretakers/providers who entered the room, so she made herself my sole provider and caretaker, ensuring that all other staff discussed treatments and concerns with her first. She even brought me “snack packs,” an assortment of snacks in a cup, just in case I got hungry. I was finally able to get some rest and pull myself together. Haylee was a true gift in being able to recognize when someone is overwhelmed, needs comfort, providing that comfort by truly taking the time to listen, and making a person feel truly cared for. I know I can face each day, knowing I am heard and cared for. Thank you, Haylee!!
