Without Hayley’s decisive action it’s likely that my son would have deteriorated quickly.
I would like to thank Hayley for acting quickly and decisively. My 5-year-old son was admitted to ward 25 with a fever (prior diagnosis of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia). On Tuesday morning I noticed a few spots on his arm. The attending nurse and I suspected chicken pox. I realized that he needed to start on medications ASAP so the nurse called the doctor. The doctor decided we wait until the next day to see how the spots developed. I immediately reached our CNS at Addenbrookes Hospital who was able to reach Hayley, who was off duty at the time. Within 10 minutes Hayley came running into our room, diagnosed it likely chicken pox, and got my son started quickly on Acyclovir. Without Hayley’s decisive action it’s likely that my son would have deteriorated quickly. Thanks to Hayley for being a superstar.
