Hayley was my admitting nurse. She was so good in every sense: caring, empathetic, the best. From the moment we met, she showed me the outstanding level of care that the 8A unit as a whole has given me. When I was admitted, I had only known about my cancer diagnosis for less than one week, and Hayley, through tremendous compassion, helped me accept my cancer THAT VERY DAY. I knew then that I was where I needed to be, and I never looked back, thanks to Hayley. She and I have become friends and she immediately bonded with my wife, and my two adult daughters. Even when she is not caring for me, Hayley comes by my room to hear the latest news on my progress and condition. She even went out of her way to meet my mom, brother, and his wife who were visiting from away. She tried her very best to speak French with my mother! Hayley Steele is truly deserving of the DAISY Award as she is a remarkable nurse and human being.
