Hazel's passion for the mentally ill, and for people in general, shows in the way she cares for her patients and the other staff. She treats people with respect and dignity. Hazel was quickly promoted in the VMU to one of the night shift charge nurses. This role is especially difficult in the VMU because the charge nurses always have a patient assignment in addition to their charge nurse duties and being a resource to other staff.

Fun fact about Hazel: Hazel loves interior design. She volunteered to design and decorate the break room in the VMU, giving all of the staff a beautiful place to relax on their break.
