Hazel Melendez, RN

I have the pleasure of working alongside Hazel on our unit. She is an excellent nurse and always willing to help. One morning, I had to call an RRT on my patient right after report. Hazel dropped whatever she was doing and immediately said to me, "What do you need me to do?" She is always thinking of others besides herself and is one of the most selfless people I have ever encountered. She goes above and beyond for her patients. This same shift, she spent time researching medication coupons to reduce her patient's copay in order for him to have a seamless transition home. He expressed to her that he could not afford his new medications, and she did not hesitate to help, like always. I am lucky to know and work with someone like Hazel. I always know she'll have my back and that her patients will receive exceptional care.
