From the time we arrived at the hospital to our discharge, every nurse has been very kind, but Heather stands out the most to me. I cannot remember if it was the first or second night, but half-asleep, emotionally exhausted and feeling completely defeated that we couldn't have our son in our room, I walked my small amount of breast milk to the nursery. I was hiding my tears (or trying to) when Heather took the time to welcome me into the nursery and reassured me that I did nothing wrong and that my son was going to be okay. She put her hand on my shoulder and talked with me until I was calm. She encouraged/allowed me to stay as long as I needed to hold my sweet baby all hooked up to an IV and multiple monitors. She also offered me kind advice and when I went back to the room, I was able to sleep peacefully knowing my son was in great hands. As a first-time mommy, I soaked in every word of wisdom. Heather provided tips on nursing when I felt I was struggling, and she shared joy with me in the moments I felt I was succeeding. Each evening she was with my son, I knew I could count on her to be honest, kind, respectful, and attentive to both mine and my son's needs. My husband, son and I are so grateful for each and every nurse who cared for us during our lengthy stay.
